Who We Are

Centre for Real Estate & Social Housing

The Centre for Real Estate and Social Housing (CRESH) started following a series of articles published by Kwadwo Owusu-Darko from September 2018. He highlighted problems facing the real estate and housing sector in Ghana and offered ideas to tackle the Housing Crisis. Several concerned readers and professionals in the sector from USA, Ghana and UK contacted him to express support for what he was doing. Subsequently, he created the Housing Forum WhatsApp group on 1st January 2019 to discuss the challenges facing Ghana’s Real Estate and Housing sector with the readers.

The members of the forum also invited their friends with interest and expertise in the sector to join. After three months intense discussion, members agreed to establish an organisation to champion and implement the ideas being expressed. Eventually, the Centre for Real Estate & Social Housing was incorporated on 25th May 2019 in the United Kingdom as a non-profit research and advocacy group. As a housing policy think tank the organisation will act as a catalyst to promote sustainable real estate and housing development in developing countries. Through the research CRESH is to bring awareness on, and better understanding of issues relating to residential and commercial real estate, housing, related businesses and policies to better serve the needs of Africans and developing countries facing similar challenges. They advocate for decent housing for all and encourage capital investment in social infrastructure to improve people’s well-being and quality of life.

Why Now?

The time has come to END THE HOUSING CRISIS. For the sake of the next generation we must act now.

The General Election 2020 offered that opportunity to show POLITICIANS and our LEADERS that the public want to see solutions to build the HOUSES we need and take action until everyone has a decent affordable home.

What Are We Asking For?

  • We are calling on ALL POLITICAL PARTIES to commit to end the housing crisis within a generation.

  • We ask PARLIAMENT to pass ALL LEGISLATION relating to HOUSING and REAL ESTATE

  • We require IMMEDIATE REAL ACTION starts now and doesn’t stop until everyone has a decent affordable home to call their own.

  • We want the NOW and NEXT GOVERNMENT to publish a long-term ACTION PLAN for housing, setting out how they will end the housing crisis within a generation.

Join Us!

So we’ll speak with one voice.

We’ll demand our politicians ensure we’re building the homes we need to end the housing crisis.

We’ll tell them that we expect them continue to take action until everyone has a decent affordable home.
